Visas
Romanian citizens, but also the European citizens who want to travel to Turkmenistan need entry visa. For Romanian citizens, tourist visas can be requested directly from Turkmenistan Embassy in Romania, the Ministry of Tourism of Turkmenistan or from travel agencies.
Transit visas are issued generally in 10-14 working days from time of application. You must have on the passport the visa of the country you enter to Turkmenistan (Iran) and visa of the destination country. On the application must be stipulated the exact date when you want to enter in Turkmenistan, and the day you enter Turkmenistan it considers as a full day. If these rules are not followed, the person will pay a fine of $ 200 and will be banned from entering Turkmenistan.
The visa costs 50 dollars, and at the entry of the country you have to pay another $ 12 per person.
Customs Regulations
On entering Turkmenistan, a custom declaration must be filled in, in two copies, in which you must write down the amount of foreign currency you have it, gold and silver objects, or other valuable objects. A copy of this declaration will remain at the customs authorities and the second one remains with you.
The customs declaration must be kept and presented when leaving the country and another customs declaration will be filled in.
Roads
The roads are generally in good condition, although some of them are under construction. On many cases, the crossroads are not signalized, nor the road works or traffic diversions. Drivers must keep the cars clean, otherwise they will be fined.
It is not advisable to park in areas adjacent to public institutions or in areas where there are signs with parking is forbidden. Speed limits are indicated on road signs (generally 60 km/h in town, 90 km/ outside the cities).
Fines must be paid at the police stations within 12 hours, otherwise they double progressively up, to 72 hours. On entering the country you must pay the following: compensation for fuel, road tolls, mandatory insurance, immigration card and entry fee. The tariffs vary depending on the vehicle type.
Fuels
Fuel prices are low in Turkmenistan. One liter of diesel costs $ 0.26 (October 2015). All petrol stations are open 24 hours. Not in all petrol stations can be found diesel fuel.
Credit Cards
In Turkmenistan, international credit cards cannot be used.
